From Concerned Parents for Clean Air and the DEQ. There will be a meeting to talk about Industrial Emissions, the impact on our neighborhoods and schools, and the monitoring of these emissions (or lack thereof).

This issue is of particular importance in our neighborhoods because during the winter months our air shed flows from the west to the east. This brings the bad air toxins and heavy metals from the NW Portland Industrial District to our N/NE neighborhoods. (Not to mention that our neighborhoods contain and border major corridors like MLK, I-5, I-84, and the Portland Highway!).

Please attend this meeting if you want to hear more about the state of our air, connect with our neighbors in NW who are doing work around this issue (particularly with the schools), and to hear from the DEQ.

To find out more about the air quality in your particular neighborhood and the schools throughout Portland, check-out this USA Today article:

Save the date- CPCA is hosting a meeting with the DEQ on this matter on Thursday, May 21st, 7-8:30pm. This will be held most likely at Chapman School Auditorium.

There are many people in our Neighborhood/Community Associations that are concerned about this issue. If you and/or your Association are concerned about this issue, then let me know and we can connect you with your concerned neighbors. If you want more information about the meeting and work in NW Portland, then contact Mary Peveto, concerned parent in NW Portland, at marypeveto@mac.com for more information.
