Kitchen Commons is hosting a Community Canning event! Community Canning is a chance for neighbors to come together and share the work of preserving delicious summer produce to enjoy all winter long. They’ll be canning tomatoes and salsa, and then sharing in a potluck meal.Tomato
Everyone is welcome, from first-time canners to experts. There will be a trained OSU Extension facilitator on hand to help us through the process and keep things running smoothly and safely, but don’t expect a class format. They’ve gotten some donations of tomatoes and equipment to keep the costs down, but those of you with tomatoes in the garden can help with the late September overwhelm. Even if you can’t make it, consider sharing some of your tomatoes and we will thank you with a jar of canned tomatoes!
Where: Classic Foods, 817 NE Madrona St., Portland, OR 97211
When: September 29th 2012, 1pm – 5pm (You’re welcome to come for all or part of the time.)
How Much: Suggested $5-10 donation. (No one will be turned away!)
What you can bring: Tomatoes and canning jars if you have some, apron, potluck dish.

To register or donate, please contact Lara@kitchencommons.net or call 503-956-0672. Space is limited– reserve your spot by 9/26.
