Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods’ Schools Committee invites you to join them for robust discussion this month as they consider Portland Public School’s proposals to balance enrollment in the Jefferson High School Area and recruiting candidates for upcoming school board elections.

On January 16, the Committee heard powerful responses from community members associated with Vernon, Beach, Chief Joseph, and Woodlawn Schools as well as the Sabin and Humboldt neighborhoods regarding current enrollment balancing proposals (see proposals here).

At next week’s meeting the Committee will consider requesting that the NECN Board of Directors take a position on the issue, which could include requests to stop the process altogether or stop closure of schools in the area.

If you have input or thoughts on how this proposal might take shape, please join us next week January 24 at 6:30pm, NECN, 4815 NE 7th Ave., King School Facility.
