Board meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month from 7:00- 8:30 p.m. The agenda for these meetings typically focuses on planning, budgeting, and community projects. They are open to all neighborhood residents and people who work or own businesses in Woodlawn. Location: Woodlawn Community Resource Center in the Woodlawn Methodist Church, 1425 NE Dekum St. Enter the west door and head up the stairs and down the hallway.

Jan. 28: Learn land use basics

Learn the basics of how the City of Portland’s land use and development review processes work in this free workshop. Get hands-on experience with a land use review case study, including review of a development proposal and site plan, identification of relevant issues, and effective ways to respond to the approval criteria.

Saturday, January 28, 9am to 1pm, SE Uplift Neighborhood Coalition, Fireside Room, 3534 SE Main Street.

Red Cross Disaster Preparedness training for Woodlawn neighbors

Woodlawn Neighborhood Association invites residents to learn about how to prepare for a disaster. Join us at Classic Foods, 817 NE Madrona, January 18 from 7-8:30p.m. Child care and refreshments will be provided. Details here.

Please note that this training is instead of our usual monthly meeting.

Jan. 9: Toxic Disparities and Environmental Justice

This presentation will explore how nationally and in the Portland area, the location of industrial sites and freeways and exposure in the workplace, home, and place of worship leave communities of color highly vulnerable to chronic disease linked to toxics. Speakers will include Ben Duncan, Program Specialist with Multnomah County Health Department, Environmental Health Division and Board Chair of OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon which works for Environmental Justice in the Portland metro area. This presentation is part of the Healthy Homes, Healthy Congregations: Green Steward Project, a pilot project to improve environmental health in our homes and our congregations, especially for infants and children.

5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Concordia University, 2811 NE Holman Street.
