Archive for the “Resources” CategoryResilience: A Community Disaster Preparedness Expo June 2ndPosted by JillW in Information, NET/Safety, ResourcesResilience PDX is a community event which will be held on June 2nd 2012 to help people prepare for disasters.
The event will be held at the King School on NE 7th, near NE Alberta Street in Portland, Oregon.
Come to the event if you are interested in meeting like-minded Portlanders and if you want to learn how to best prepare yourself, your friends, and your family for a disaster. The event is hosted by the Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods.
Resilience PDX is an event to connect Portlanders who want to acquire or share knowledge and skills about disaster preparedness. Geologists suggest we are due for a major earthquake in this region, and better preparedness can save lives and minimize impacts of a disaster. The more we are prepared, the faster we will be able to recover and return to ‘normalcy’. At this event, we will showcase the various groups around Portland that can serve as resources for the community before, during, and after a major emergency. There will also be a number of skills workshops, where subject experts will share knowledge to help you prepare for and recover from a disaster. All for free! Come learn and get connected. The final schedule will be posted by the end of May.
The expected attendees include : Multnomah County Emergency Management, City of Portland Bureau of Emergency Management, Multnomah County Environmental Health, Earthquake Tech, Seismic NW, Oregon Red Cross, PREP, PHLUSH, Cloacina, Terra Firma, Trackers Earth, PortlandNET, Betsy Shand, and more!
For more information and list of workshops, see ResiliencePDX.org

TriMet may change lines 6 and 8Posted by seiko in Get Involved!, Information, Resources, tags: bus, TriMetDue to a budget shortfall, bus lines 6 & 8 are being considered for a change in North Portland to one segment that could reduce redundancy by allowing the Line 8/NE 15th to terminate at approximately NE Dekum Ave. at 9th Ave., and the Line 6/MLK to continue north on MLK Blvd past Lombard to the Jubitz truck stop, then on to Jantzen Beach via NE Marine Drive. All of the areas currently served by Line 8 under consideration would be served by the Line 6. C-Tran buses connect PIR/Vanport MAX Station with Jantzen Beach and Vancouver. TriMet welcomes your feedback on this and other budget options at trimet.org/choices.
