Jazz Night Is Back! A Woodlawn PTA Tradition!
Jazz Night is in its 6th year and will be held Friday, February 28, 2025, from 5:30-9pm at the Village Ballroom on NE Dekum St. Jazz Night dates back to 2017, when Woodlawn parents conceived it as a tribute to the 1950s jazz scene on N. Williams Ave. This event is important to our community because it celebrates Black culture, music, and history of our neighborhood. This is an adults-only event, but a core group of our incredible Woodlawn staff are offering free childcare for enrolled Woodlawn students at school, allowing parents an affordable and much-needed night out!
Admission is free; RSVP to reserve your spot and to register for childcare. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
While Jazz Night is first and foremost a celebration and a cultivation of our community, it is also our PTA’s most significant annual fundraiser. Sponsorships, auction and raffle revenue, and proceeds from food sales will help us our reach our goal to raise $20,000. All funds raised will support the mission and goals of the Woodlawn Elementary School PTA, which are made in collaboration with school leadership. These initiatives include hosting community-building events, providing appreciation and support to school staff throughout the year, and management of the Woodlawn Family Resilience Fund. Money raised from Jazz Night will help us address the immediate needs of our school community!
