Community for MLK is a group of people who are looking for volunteers and feedback about adding parking to MLK Boulevard.

NE MLK Jr Blvd is currently a four to five lane “stroad” that prioritizes vehicle speed over safety, access, environmental justice, and community connection. “Community for MLK” is a volunteer-led effort to pilot curbside parking on the outer lanes, calm traffic, and activate the street with pop-up events, cultural celebrations, and support for small businesses. Volunteers are currently helping with outreach, design mockups, and advocacy.

Your involvement matters! We want to ensure changes reflect the priorities of the people who live, work and gather here.

Some open questions:

• Should MLK have on-street parking all the time or only outside of rush hour?

• Can PBOT install more crosswalks across MLK if the street is narrowed?

• How quickly can local businesses benefit from these changes?

• How can we mitigate traffic impacts on neighboring streets?

• Can we do some small changes (like targetted Rose lanes or stop consolidation) to substantially speed up the #6 bus?
