Raised in Michigan, Joy has been in Oregon for 26 years, and in Woodlawn for 10. She lived with her husband Sylvan in a SE neighborhood for 15 years but barely knew her neighbors. She moved to Woodlawn specifically to live in and help create a thriving community. Within her first year here, she knew everyone on her block! She has helped organize the 9^th Avenue block party for years. She loves hiking in old growth forests, mushroom hunting, traveling, and gardening. Joy’s background is in community organizing, environmental nonprofit management and operations. She is currently an operations consultant, helping nonprofits get organized and saw that WNA could use some of her expertise. Joy also hosts the Woodlawn Seed Library in front of her house to help build food resilience, protect pollinators, and create beauty in our neighborhood.
