Jazz Night 2024 at the Village Ballroom on March 8th!

Jazz Night is back! The Woodlawn Elementary PTA is  delighted to host this special event on Friday, March 8th, 2024 at The Village Ballroom from 5:30 – 9 pm at Village Ballroom. Jazz Night dates to 2017 when parents conceived it as a tribute to the 1950s jazz scene on North Williams Avenue. This event is important to this community because it celebrates Black culture, music, and history in our neighborhood.

Admission is free to this adults-only event, with food and drink available for purchase. Meanwhile at school, Woodlawn staff members will provide free childcare for Woodlawn students ages 5-11 while their parents/guardians attend Jazz Night.

  • Live Music featuring Tahirah Memory and Charlie Brown III
  • History Storytelling By Mr. Paul Knauls, the (unofficial) Mayor of Northeast Portland
  • Raffle and silent auction

Money raised from Jazz Night will specifically help us address the immediate needs of our school community! We have the goal to raise a total of $12,500 at Jazz Night and YOU can help us get there! All funds raised will support the mission and goals of the Woodlawn Elementary School PTA made in conjunction with school leadership. These initiatives include hosting community-building events, providing appreciation to school staff throughout the year, and management of the Woodlawn Family Resilience Fund. Support our PTA by participating in the silent auction and raffle! Join us from 5:30 to 9 PM at 704 NE Dekum Street. More information here.
