An exhibition promoting decades of achievements by Portland’s neighborhood associations, July 3 to August 25, 2019.
Some artists are already wowing us with the fruits of their labor including Anya Keyes’ portrayals of nourishment at the Woodlawn Community Garden — which began in 1997 as a project in partnership with the Woodlawn Neighborhood Association. (Photographs of Keyes’ paintings are below.) Yong Hong Zhong’s emotionally resonant depictions of sequoia trees in Eastmoreland as well as art featuring the China Town Gates, the Brooklyn Rail Yard, and the MAX line will all be included in this exhibition.
The exhibition is turning into a stunning portrayal of the hard-won achievements of neighbors volunteering and working together. We look forward to seeing more art as it is turned in and we hope to see you at the opening of “Neighborhood Associations Rock!” on Saturday July 13th, from 5 pm – 8 pm.
