Special FREE PBEM School Earthquake Response Training — RSVP Required
Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (PBEM) will be hosting 2 free half-day special earthquake preparedness and response training workshops focused on how school staff and parents can prevent & respond to the most serious risks in an earthquake. Vernon, Woodlawn, & Sabin Elementary Schools & four building at Concordia University are all un-reinforced masonry, and therefore at higher risk for serious structural damage & injuries in a major earthquake.
The course is a partnership between the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management, Portland Fire and Rescue, and the Neighborhood Emergency Team and will be taught by a Portland Fire and Rescue trainer. Participants will learn:
How to identify hazards
How to mitigate existing hazards
Basic of Trauma in a disaster setting
Identify life threatening injuries and how to treat. (Stop the Bleed)
The training is scheduled for July 20, 2019. There will be two four-hour session available: 8am-12pm and 12:30-4:30pm. Location will be at Fire Station #2 (Fire Bureau Training Facility), 4800 NE 122nd Ave., Portland, OR 97230.
