Linde Parcels-West and her spouse, Matt West, moved to Portland in March 2023 and found a home and wonderful community in Woodlawn near NE 17th and NE Junior St. They relocated from Atlanta, Georgia where Matt completed a PhD in Material Science at Georgia Tech and Linde worked at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in environmental health. Linde still works remotely for the CDC working on readiness and response for public health emergencies. She enjoys hiking, pottery, the Woodlawn Farmers Market, going out to eat with Matt in Woodlawn, and walking their dog, Fern.
Linde Parcels-West is passionate about the role of neighborhoods and local engagement as a way to create community resilience, power, and health. Linde connected with the WNA shortly after moving to Portland and was welcomed onto the Board as the Secretary until October 2023 when she transitioned her role on the Board to focus on community outreach and engagement. She especially enjoys writing the WNA monthly newsletter, which she sees as a way of sharing timely news, events, and opportunities for neighbors to connect and provide input on city and state policies and programs that directly impact Woodlawn and surrounding neighborhoods.
