You’re invited to an intimate afternoon celebrating Poetry, Culture and Soul Food Straight out of Central Albina.
Clothes are the costumes of our lives. This was especially true for children growing up in Central Albina; a thriving Black community that was demolished to accommodate the Emanuel Hospital expansion. Growing up during this time, children had Church Clothes, Work Clothes, Play Clothes and Dress Up Clothes and never did you mix the two. This invitation only event literally and metaphorically explores what the children of Central Albina were wearing when they discovered their homes would be demolished and more. Join us for a delicious afternoon of togetherness with special guests and the families who had their homes and businesses snatched away–“So, What Were You Wearing When Your Home Was Demolished…” An intimate afternoon of Poetry, Culture and Soul Food. This is an EAT and THINK event.
NOTE: If you are sick, feel sick, have a tickle in your throat, an itch behind your ear, a bug in your stomach, think you might be sick or was around someone who is, PLEASE stay home.
