New Street Trees Planted Throughout Woodlawn

As of March 31, 2024, the City of Portland’s Urban Forestry department just finished planting around 120 new trees in the Woodlawn neighborhood as part of their Free Street Tree Program.

Below is a table of the species planted specifically in Woodlawn along with their common names. All street tree species are reflected in Urban Forestry’s Approved Street Tree Planting Lists. They prioritize when appropriate planting trees that are either native, evergreen or large-form at maturity. Trees planted with this program will be warrantied and established (weekly summer watering, weeding, etc.) for 3 years and Urban Forestry will perform structural pruning on each tree at the 3rd and 5th year. Property owners will continue to receive notifications about these street trees and the services provided during establishment up until the completion of the 3rd year when the maintenance of the trees will be shifted to the adjacent property owner per tree code.
